Train Ride!

Last week was spent visiting Mikey and Raph in Seattle. This is us in the car.

It was a most relaxing and epic vacation. We might have marathoned(yes its a word) Bones the tv show, for two days straight. Best week ever! But alas on the dreaded Thursday I was forced to part with my dear friends and go home. Never fear though, there are many ways for friends bordering that level of insanity to remain in contact no matter how many states separate them. Whoot for facebook! and that is the only time ever that I will say that...social networking...there are better things to do in my opinion, like read a book. although blogging does fall into the networking category doesn't it?

So I was on the train txting tearful goodbyes to my lovelies, when I fell asleep. The entire trip from Seattle to Portland was originally estimated to be three hours. Originally. I awoke just a while later when the train jolted to a halt. In my sleepy daze I failed to hear what the conductor said over the intercom and dismissed the matter entirely. Till a half hour later when it was noted that we still hadn't moved and were in the middle of no where. It was very dark outside.

To make the situation worse, the dude across the isle from me was very upset at the squalling baby sitting behind him, and in a very mature manner showed his frustration by cussing and storming to the dining cart. Its interesting the people you meet when on a train, or an airplane, or a bus for that matter.

I must confess that worry did start to creep in just a bit as the staff working on the train paced up and down the isles whispering into their talkies. I'm not one for conspiracy theories or jumping to conclusions but it did occur to me that the angry man that didn't like babies might have been a terrorist, and the conductor and his staff were actually CIA, but suddenly the train lurched forward about fifty yards and we were at Olympia station. Apparently there was just snow on the tracks that had to be shuffled off. That guy wasn't a terrorist, he was just rude.

Our trip ended up being about an hour and ten minutes longer due to frequent stops and snow shoveling. That wasn't too bad. The only bad part was when we pulled into the station in Portland and a freight train was already pulling through so we weren't aloud to get off till it passed in case someone was goofy enough to get to close to the freight cars. That was the moment time slowed.

No one thought that time could slow that much, but indeed as the freight cars rolled by one by one at almost five miles an hour, some teenager spoke aloud that we got there at the beginning of the train! Teenagers are interesting, they also express frustration in the form of swearing. Every one else on the train gets props, they just continued napping or reading their books.

When I started writing this post I don't think it had a point, still...I fail to see a point. At least something has been written! For those of you who have read this entire page GOOD JOB! and CONGRATULATIONS! this is the end.

THE END!!
